Límite. Del límite. Paisajes del límite. Abrir el campo, de lo particular a lo general, y comprobar que un límite no es tal sin campos, realidades o magnitudes a uno y otro lado. En el ámbito del paisaje es el horizonte el que tradicionalmente ha encarnado el concepto de límite, separando el cielo de la tierra, lo tangible de lo etéreo. En la obra del fotógrafo José Guerrero y del pintor Nico Munuera, los dos artistas que dan forma a este proyecto, el horizonte se configura como elemento estructural pero los dos lo perciben desde prismas diversos. Si en Guerrero (Granada, 1979) el horizonte es firme y nítido, en Munuera, (Lorca, Murcia, 1974) éste no es sino una línea veleidosa y dúctil, si es que alguno alcanza la categoría de línea o si podemos todavía llamarlo horizonte. Desde sus respectivos lenguajes, los dos abordan la construcción del paisaje y cuanto de liminal abunda en ellos, y observamos un interés común por trascender los límites físicos de la obra. Hay, por tanto, en nuestro recorrido por sus respectivos ámbitos, una sucesión de horizontes y una reiterada suma de lindes y fronteras, ya sea en el marco preciso de cada imagen individual o en el conjunto que se despliega en el espacio.
We need to zoom out, from the specific and out onto the general, in order to understand that a limit is not such thing without a field, a reality or a magnitude on either side of it. In the field of landscape, horizon is the element that most usually epitomises the limit. It separates the earth and the sky, the tangible and the ethereal. Horizons structures the work of the two artists on show here, but the limit it conveys is perceived from diffferent perspectives. For photographer José Guerrero (Granada, 1979) horizon is firm and precise, whereas for painter Nico Munuera (Lorca, Murcia, 1974) it is a capricious and ductile line, should we allow ourselves to perceive it as a line or even call it “horizon”. From their respective mediums, both artists approach the construction of landscape and their posible limits while simultaneusly examining the possibility of trascending their edge and step out onto the exhibition space. A reiteration of borders and frontiers thus appear in both rooms, be them within each individual work and in the wider context of the exhibition space.
